Course Outline:
This course introduces the S7 product family. A system overview of the SIMATIC S7-400 (Classic) PLCs, which includes hardware & software components, plus system configuration issues. The course concentrates on the STEP 7 hardware, program structures, & instruction set basics, & troubleshooting, STEP 7 software diagnostic tools & programming instructions are introduced in the course to guide the delegate through the management of a realistic application.

- Programming:SIMATIC Manager STEP 7 (Version 5.5)
- PLC Hardware: Siemens S7-300 PLC or Siemens S7-400
Brief Description:
- Identify the components & performance characteristics of the SIMATIC S7-300 & S7-400 (Classic) PLCs
- Install a PLC system, including the communication cabling & wiring of I/O
- Operate the Siemens STEP 7 software to make it perform certain tasks.
- Perform system diagnostics when a problem occurs.
- Debug hardware problems.
- Document, test, & troubleshoot an application program.
- Replace Siemens S7 PLC hardware & modules when a fault occurs.
- Understand basic instruction set & be able to make minor modifications to software.
- Backup & restore a PLC program when required.
- Utilise binary operations, timers, counters, comparators, & arithmetic operations for modifications
