“If supply chain resilience provides the opportunity to reshore more of the supply chain in the UK, we would certainly support and encourage that,” SMMT’s chief executive Mike Hawes told City A.M.<br />
According to Hawes, a successful reshoring of automotive production back to Britain depends on whether there is a strong and healthy car production as well as the level of competitiveness.<br />
“Being competitive is about making the right products that are in demand and being able to make them as cheaply as possible, but to high levels of quality and flexibility,” he added.</p><p style="font-size: 14px;color: #1e73be;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-3 vc_custom_1648798447325 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" ><a href="https://www.lincolnshirelive.co.uk/news/local-news/morrisons-becomes-first-uk-supermarket-6700830">https://www.cityam.com/automotive-sector-favour-relocating-car-manufacruting-uk/</a></p><h2 style="font-size: 16px;color: #000000;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-3 vc_custom_1648798464467 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" ><a href="https://www.business-live.co.uk/manufacturing/engineering-giant-westley-group-secures-23237297">UK on track to reach 4,000 zero emission bus pledge with £200 million boost</a></h2><p style="font-size: 14px;color: #000000;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-3 vc_custom_1648798481995 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" >Millions of people across the country will be able to make greener, cleaner journeys as almost 1,000 green buses are rolled out with the backing of nearly £200m in government funding.<br />
Twelve areas in England, from Greater Manchester to Portsmouth, will receive grants from the multimillion-pound package to deliver electric or hydrogen powered buses, as well as charging or fuelling infrastructure, to their region.<br />
The funding comes from the Zero Emission Buses Regional Area (ZEBRA) scheme, which was launched last year to allow local transport authorities to bid for funding to purchase zero emission buses. This latest investment of £198.3m will provide 943 buses</p><p style="font-size: 14px;color: #1e73be;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-3 vc_custom_1648798502515 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" ><a href="https://www.business-live.co.uk/manufacturing/engineering-giant-westley-group-secures-23237297">https://www.gov.uk/government/news/uk-on-track-to-reach-4000-zero-emission-bus-pledge-with-200-million-boost </a></p><h2 style="font-size: 16px;color: #000000;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-3 vc_custom_1648798523521 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" ><a href="https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/19959743.manufacturing-grows-supply-chain-disruption-eases/">The new age of the engineering data scientist is here</a></h2><p style="font-size: 14px;color: #000000;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-03 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" >Artificial intelligence, Engineering, and Data Science used to be different disciplines with little overlap, but now these specialist domains are rapidly converging. Engineers hold the key to capitalising on the potential of AI across the manufacturing sector.<br />
Nowadays product development and simulation engineering teams have access to a wealth of data that should be informing their product design and manufacturing processes. This means that engineers must be able to harness AI, Machine Learning (ML), and data analytics to support and accelerate better decision-making, reduce time to market, and design more efficient products.</p><p style="font-size: 14px;color: #1e73be;line-height: 1.75" class="vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading mb-03 vc_custom_1648798583033 wpb_custom_aa365bd5046e8294520b4e73732b9d15 align-left" ><a href="https://www.leaderlive.co.uk/news/19959743.manufacturing-grows-supply-chain-disruption-eases/">https://www.themanufacturer.com/articles/the-new-age-of-the-engineering-data-scientist-is-here/ </a></p></div></div></div>
